Sunday 7:30 - Dave Gross/Liz Tonne
Sedimental SED10IN01, 2003
A tour document highlighting two exemplary excursions by these leading Boston
improvisers. Gross (reeds) and Tonne (voice) are heard here during the southern
part of Gross's two month tour across the US in the fall of 2001. This vinyl
10" documents two exceptional and unedited improvisations from Atlanta
and Houston.
Lowercase-Sound
Compilation 2002 - The undr quartet
Bremsstrahlung, 002, 2002
The second compilation offered by the Bremsstrahlung label, set up by Josh
Russell, to showcase "lower-case music". Originally described by minimalist
artist Steve Roden, lower-case music is an unassuming music, that "sits quietly
awaiting discovery, as opposed to loudly calling attention to itself." This
2002 compilation consists of 33 tracks by some of the finest electronic and
eletro-acoustic artists working today, including Dan Abrams, Kim Cascone,
Taylor Deupree, Tetsu Inoue, Francisco Lopez, Akira Rabelais, Michael Schumacher,
and Otaku Yakuza. Liz Tonne is featured here with the undr quartet, along
with James Coleman, the creator of the original lower-case email list, Greg
Kelley and Vic Rawlings.
Zuihitsu
Sedimental, SEDCD30, 2001
Boston thereminist, James Coleman's acclaimed debut CD. Zuihutsu provides
a superb forum for experiencing an aesthetic that can be heard in much of
Boston's improv scene through a series of duos, trios and quartets. Featuring
the undr quartet, Bhob Rainey, Greg Kelley, Tatsuya Nakatani, and Vic Rawlings.
Liz Tonne appears on tracks # 5,7,10,15.
Liz
Tonne with my special guest Johnny McLellan
self release,1999
Ten duo improvisations that unfold for the listener as they did for the musicians,
chronicled here in the order in which they were recorded. Listen as a single
musical idea becomes increasingly focused and swinging.
